Machine Designer / Project Engineer

The Mechanical Machine Design Engineer will create designs in addition to all drafted documentation associated with projects. The design/documentation will be created using Autodesk Inventor. The scope of the job will span all elements of the project life cycle inclusive of gathering project requirements, preliminary and final design, bills of material, project management, etc. Work will also include updating documentation and project management for existing machine designs. Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and vendors in a professional manner. Must demonstrate a working knowledge of basic engineering principles, statics | dynamics, etc.


Design mechanical machine 3D models, engineer drawings, and ability to design from sketches, concepts or mark-ups provided by Sales and / or our customers.

Prepare drawing packages for custom automation machines. Prepare and work with bills of material (BOMs) and other required documents.

Research product specifications, contacting vendors, and other support functions as needed and obtain quotations.

Assist the team with non-drafting project activities such as continuously improving engineering standards, hands-on work in the shop as appropriate to see your designs through.

Work as part of a collaborative team to balance workloads and ensure quality deliverables are produced on time.

Ability to present designs to customer in a design review setting.

Be able to delegate tasks and review designs | check drawings prior to engineering release


Experience Required:

Strong understanding of machine design fundamentals and practices

Strong and proven work record of Inventor 3D machine design using Autodesk Inventor

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, basic understanding of AutoCAD

Understanding of basic machine controls

Pneumatic | Hydraulic sizing of components and systems (cylinders, valves, etc.)

AC/DC Motor | Servomotor sizing

Work with controls engineers, develop scheme of operations

An ideal candidate will have:

BS – Mechanical Engineering preferred with 2+ years machine design experience or 6+ years machine design experience with the primary focus on industrial assembly and packaging machines.

Inventor or Solidworks training (2yr Associates degree in Drafting Technology or equivalent experience)

Primary Responsibilities:

This position is primarily responsible for all data entry of accounts payable. This position will also have responsibility for fixed assets and assisting with month-end close activities. This position will also be responsible for general office responsibilities.

 Essential Job Functions


Matching invoices to purchase orders and recording them in our ERP system

Obtain W-9s from all vendors

Entering and reconciling credit card account activity

Maintain fixed asset schedule and supporting documentation

Recording credit card expenses to projects

Assist with the preparation of month-end close schedules

Year-end processing of 1099s

Perform other duties as requested

General Office:

Answering phones

Typing documents

Filing records

Ordering supplies / lunches etc.

Job Qualifications:

Working knowledge of basic accounting principles required

Working knowledge of Quick books accounting software

Basic understanding of the need for proper controls
