The lid closing station makes use of the positive control the clamshell indexing carrying trays provide. The trays allow for easy manipulation of the clamshell lid. The package is held in place using vacuum and the lids are pneumatically driven over. Once upright the clamshell lids are pneumatically driven to the near closed position and then are pneumatically snapped shut with independent closer bars. Independent bars prevent one unclosed box from not allowing the other two to lock.
