The card placing unit is a vertical placement design. The
cards are picked from a 4-up magazine using vacuum suction
cups. They are transferred straight down rotating 180 degrees
into the clamshell using a feedscrew and stepper motor for
positioning and speed. During the downward transfer the cards
will be held in position over the placement point where
tooling will engage the cards and form the multi-bend
configuration. This tooling will form the legs of the card. A
low level sensor will flash a light when the cards magazines
need to be reloaded.
